eight years, ABC Talk radio's resident psychologist for 10 years, and a weekly columnist for the Detroit Free Press for 10 years. Currently, she is a regular contributor to Corp! and Good Living magazines.
A few of the numerous honors she has received throughout her illustrious career are: The first annual "Star" award by the American Women in Radio and Television honoring a continued commitment to the issues and concerns of women… an Emmy award for her TV program "Sonya"… cable's Ace award for CNN's "Sonya Live"… The American Psychological Association's Presidential award for her outstanding contribution through the media… was inducted into the Michigan Speakers Hall of Fame and was recently awarded the distinction of being included in Corp Magazine's "Most Influential Women in Michigan."
Dr. Friedman's ability to translate her knowledge and training in Psychology to everyday concerns and events has made her one of the most recognized psychologists in the country.
In addition to her media work, Dr. Friedman has authored several books, which have put her on the New York Times best-seller list:

Dr. Friedman received her Master's Degree in Educational Psychology and a Doctorate in Psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, plus Continuing Medical Education at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. She continues her private clinical practice in Birmingham, Michigan.
Dr. Friedman is a guest lecturer for the Pritikin Center, Canyon Ranch, the Golden Door Spas, the Crystal Symphony cruise line and recently appeared on QVC with a line of motivational jewelry.
